Three things, and none of them are cosmetic. The gimbal interface is new, the vertical adjustment range has been opened up, and the control profile has been retuned for the M400’s mass and rotor wash.
What changed
- 60° vertical adjustable spraying, up from 40° on the M350 profile
- Ultra-close operation — the squeegee can sit against the surface with the airframe a metre further out
- Retuned recoil compensation for the heavier platform, holding station in stronger gusts
Why the M400 matters
Most cleaning jobs are not limited by the head. They are limited by how long the platform can stay up and how much wind it will take before the pilot calls it. A heavier airframe with more battery moves both limits, and on a tall facade that translates directly into fewer battery swaps per elevation.
From the field
Pre-release units ran on three sites over eight weeks: a curtain-wall tower, a coated-panel office block and a small wind farm. Across the three, crews reported a measurable drop in repositioning moves, which is where most of the non-productive time on a facade job goes.
Availability
The tethered cleaning head now flies on DJI’s newest heavy platform, adding 60° vertical adjustment and ultra-close contact work to the existing 8 MPa envelope.
